my parents my name is Erica Wilson and I'm in sixth grade science social studies teacher here at Singing River Academy myself along with my other fellow teachers are going to be explaining to you some rules and procedures and some reading and math strategies that help your students succeed 6th grade science social studies we are under a new science curriculum where we do a lot of Hands-On spirit and all kinds of different strategies to learn the 6th grade science objectives social studies we usually learn about different countries of the world probably two to three weeks out of so if you see one subject with more grades in it that's because of that reason I wanted to talk to you a little bit about Tuesday folders within Tuesday folders home every week Piper's forms graded papers to understand your child is learning as well as Grace that they are making in class each week please look at those Tuesday folders takes out the papers go over those papers with your student connect FaceTime communication is very important between teachers and parents please email us with any of your questions or concerns email is probably the best way to communicate between fatigue and the parents also if you haven't signed up for any of our remind apps please do that as well that way you'll see a test coming up. Just a short little text message telling you different assignment cats that are coming up at the front office today how to communicate with if your child sick please call the front office that day bringing the doctor's excuse the next day and if your child going to be absent for an extended amount of time please call the office so I'll teachers can get his work together so that way I won't fall behind on class work remind you about and maybe something every Monday your child has a list of what is happening this week whether it be an assignment that we're doing in class whether it is a school function preparing them for 7th and 8th grade also everyday I have what we're learning that day and I'll always put if there's something that they need to be reminded about or tell their parents that let us know that your user that reminds maybe affected you can still sign up to get emails instead of also and Tuesday folder you should get a newsletter every single Tuesday that has information from all of you every Tuesday this is in your child's folder also students are required to have 45 minutes of i-Ready time each week the goal is for them to have at least three passing lessons preferably at 100 and if you look on the back of a it is flip into first second third and fourth block each week I posed the class average as students complete the lesson if it's past their locked up and go make sure I know that students sometimes in about these lessons but they really are beneficial these lessons are based on what your child nose and they are paid for their ability to please encourage them to do their best III machine I'm so excited to be working with them for the rest of the year I just wanted to talk to you a little bit about i-Ready in my classroom as well as a math with you drawings for three lessons at 100% And the lessons are paste for their reading ability as well a lot of them are about to come after AR reading questions about there with a red question about the setting and the characters and cons telling about what they read hey parents it's Miss Whittington I'm here to talk about a are your student should be reading every night I sent all my reading log with a C section on the back so again reinforcing those reading skills of summarizing what they've read every night 20 minutes I do give them times reading class Darnell weeks AR 9 weeks a humorous chapter book African American history that can be a biography nonfiction and animals nonfiction and then a nonfiction of their tools So speaking of nonfiction that brings us to map testing because that's what's going to help your student the most that informational text map testing is coming at the end of April one task per day for depending on the schedule times have changed to my knowledge for math writing is still on the computer reading multiple choice so all that should be the same so if you have any questions if you need to contact any of the other teachers of myself please feel free to either call the office and or you can always email us and we also have cheetah websites that are available as well
