Dear Parents,

Welcome to an exciting year at Singing River Academy. I am so excited to be able to teach your child Science and Social Studies. This year we will have opportunities for hands-on lab activities as well as hands-on lessons. My goal is that your child will have a fun, engaging environment that they will want to learn. I want them to be excited about what they are learning. With that being said, I need your help: Please ask them questions, listen to them, and stay connected with me. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. With some of the labs that we will be doing in class, I might ask for an item to be brought from home (baking soda, food coloring, etc.) The week prior to whenever I need the item, I will make sure to add it to the weekly newsletter; so please keep an eye out for these newsletters. I can not wait to join you on the success of your child!

Grades

I will be collecting grades throughout the year in the form of quizzes, Common Assessments (CAs) and District Assessments (DAs).

Grading Scale

A = 100% - 90%

B = 89% - 80%

C = 79% - 70%

D = 69% - 65%

F = 64% - 0%

Homework

My students will be expected to study for their homework and also to complete any unfinished classwork. 

Communication 

Each student will have a yellow CHOMP folder. They will be expected to keep this folder in their book bag at all times. On Tuesdays evenings, please sign the folder for your child. They are to be brought back to school and Wednesday.

The following information will be included and found in the yellow CHOMP folder:

• Important information from the school (t-shirt orders, PTO information, pictures, permission slips, etc)
• Graded assignments
• Unfinished assignments that need to be completed
• Newsletters

SchoolStatus will be used to text and call. I will text you first and then call if I have any questions or concerns.

My office hours will be 1:10 till 1:40pm Monday through Friday and 3:15 till 5:00pm Monday through Thursday. I will be unavailable on Fridays.
