About Mrs. Salter
Hello Gators and Welcome to Singing River Academy!
My name is Emily Salter and I am so excited to be your counselor this year! This will be my 18th year as a School Social Worker and I've have been at Singing River Academy since 2012.
I was born and raised in Northern Michigan and have been living on the beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast since 2008. I am married and have two amazing boys, Jaxson (16) and Maddox (11). Some of my favorite things to do are going to the beach, reading and spending time with my friends and family.
Being a kid can be really hard! You might be struggling with bullying, peer conflicts, friends, school work, big life changes, or just trying to figure out who you are. I am here to help and support you every step of the way!
As a social worker, I learned early on that there is no one therapeutic model or tool that will work the same for everyone. What might work for one child may not work for another. I am constantly introducing new therapeutic and counseling techniques for my students. In the past several years I've introduced things like; yoga, interactive journaling, relaxation, mindfulness, guided imagery, growth mindset, art therapy, EFT tapping and the use of essential oils.
I am so happy you are here at SRA with us and I'm looking forward to a great school year!
